This easy homemade Christmas simmer pot in a jar makes such a beautiful and inexpensive gift…and it smells exactly like Christmas morning! They make unique hostess, teacher and co-worker gifts or the perfect party favor! All the ingredients and instructions you will need to make your own simmer pot jars are listed below. I have also created a free simmer pot instruction tag you can add to your jars by clicking the link below!

Simmer Pot Ingredients and Instructions

Ingredients:

  • Dried Oranges (instructions from Ella Claire & Co.)
  • Dried Apples (add thinly sliced apples to a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake on 200 for 2-3 hours)
  • Dried Cranberries (instructions from The Spruce Eats)
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Whole Cloves
  • Star Anise
  • Evergreen Clippings

Packaging items:

  • Jelly or Pint size Ball Jar
  • Ribbon
  • Dried orange and evergreen sprig for embellishment
  • Simmer Pot Instruction Tag (download available below)

To assemble jars:

Add a mix of all of the above ingredients based on the size of your jar. For a jelly size ball jar I used 3 apple slices, 3 orange slices, a tablespoon of cranberries, a teaspoon whole cloves, 2 star anise, two cinnamon sticks and pine and fir evergreen sprigs. For a pint size jar, increase ingredients accordingly. I added a piece of crumpled parchment paper to the top of my lid, added the canning ring and wrapped a piece of velvet ribbon with the simmer pot instructions, an orange slice and evergreen sprig to embellish the jar.

Simmer pot instructions:

Put entire contents of jar into a sauce pan. Cover with water and simmer on low, adding additional water as needed. Be sure the pot always has water. The pot should last an entire day!

Use the link below to download the Simmer Pot instructions when gifting your own!
