What You Will Need-Grocery List
- White Chocolate and/or Milk Chocolate Melting Chocolate (I use almond bark)
- Hot Chocolate Mix
- Hot Chocolate Bomb Molds
- Mini Dried Marshmallows, Mini Chocolate Chips, Crushed Peppermints, Sprinkles for toppings and additions to the bombs

How to Make Homemade Hot Chocolate Bombs
- Melt chocolate according to package directions.
- Spoon a teaspoon of melted chocolate into hot chocolate bomb mold and coat completely on all sides, paying close attention to the edges. Add to the fridge to allow the chocolate to chocolate to harden and more chocolate if needed to ensure a good coating.
- Allow the chocolate to harden on the counter or to speed up the process, put the molds into the fridge.
- Once chocolate is hardened, put a microwave safe salad plate into the microwave for about 45 sec-1 minute. You can also set a plate above a hot pan of water to heat the plate.
- Very easily remove one half-sphere of chocolate from the mold and set the sphere, edges down, on the hot plate and spin it around a couple times. (This will make the edges uniform and also help create a seal when you put he two spheres together).
- Add 1 teaspoon of hot chocolate mix in one half of the sphere and add some mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips if you’d like.
- Remove the second sphere and repeat the same step of turning the sphere edge side down, onto a hot plate and spin.
- Quickly add the top sphere while edges are still melty. This will help create a seal. Rub your finger along where the two spheres meet to smooth out.
- Set bomb back in mold and drizzle some melted chocolate. Add toppings before chocolate hardens.
- Put hot chocolate bomb in a mug and pour hot milk over the top to watch it explode!

Tips for Making Hot Chocolate Bombs
- Use a Silicone Mold: A silicone sphere mold is the most common and easiest mold for beginners. Make sure the molds are perfectly clean and dry and adding the molds to the fridge once you’ve added the chocolate will help the chocolate to harden.
- Apply Two Thin Coats of Chocolate: Instead of one thick layer that might be hard to get out of the mold, apply a thin coat of chocolate, let it set in the fridge or freezer (for a few minutes), and then apply a second layer, paying extra attention to the edges to make them sturdy.
- Use a Warm Plate for Sealing: To create a smooth, clean seam, heat a plate in the microwave for 30 seconds to a minute. Take an empty half-sphere and gently melt the rim on the warm plate, then press it onto a hot chocolate filled half-sphere to seal them together.
- Add Toppings while chocolate drizzle is still tacky: If decorating with mini marshmallows, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips or crushed candies, do so while the top layer of chocolate is still tacky so that the toppings stick to the chocolate.
