I love making these air fryer mini hand pies for a quick and easy dessert! They are so simple to throw together, especially if you use a refrigerated pie crust and canned pie filling. But, they would be delicious with homemade pie crust and filling too. Make apple hand pies with a yummy caramel sauce or cherry hand pies topped with vanilla ice cream…yum!
What you Will Need-Grocery List
The ingredient list below includes store bought ingredients, but feel free to use your favorite homemade pie crust and homemade fruit filling recipe if you prefer and follow the rest of the instructions.
- 1 box refrigerated pie crust
- 1 can fruit pie filling of your choice ( I love cherry and apple)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon water
- Course sugar (or granulated is fine too)
- 5 inch cookie or biscuit cutter
How to Make Air Fryer Mini Hand Pies
- Roll out the pie dough and cut 5 inch circles with a cookie or biscuit cutter. One store bought refrigerated pie crust will make approximately 5 hand pies.
- Add about a tablespoon of fruit filling in the center of each circle of dough.
- Fold the dough over forming a half moon shape.
- Seal the edge of the hand pie by using a fork to press down around the moon shape.
- Whisk together one egg with 1 teaspoon of water to make an egg wash.
- Brush the egg wash on top of hand pie.
- Cut three slits in the middle of the pie.
- Sprinkle sugar over the top of the hand pie.
- Add a parchment liner to the pan or lightly spray. Add the pies to air fryer.
- Bake on 350 for 10-12 minutes (check at the 10 min mark) or until crust is golden brown.
- Serve warm with ice cream or caramel sauce!
