These wings are my husbands specialty and are the most requested thing he grills! They never last long and he can never make enough. They are sticky, sweet and so good! Ingredients-Grocery List
For the Wings:
- 3-5 lbs chicken wings
- High heat oil such as avocado or olive oil
For the Rub:
- 2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- dash of cayenne pepper to taste
For the Maple Bourbon BBQ Sauce:
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 2 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- dash of cayenne pepper to taste
How to make Maple Bourbon Glazed Chicken Wings
How to Prep the Wings:
- If cooking from frozen, thaw the wings completely prior to grilling.
- Rub the fresh or thawed wings with a high heat oil such as avacodo or olive oil.
How to Make the Rub:
- In a small bowl, stir together all the spices.
- Coat the wings evenly with the rub and let them sit on a rimmed baking sheet at room temperature while you make the sauce and heat the grill to 350-400 degrees F. You can prepare the wings ahead of time and rest in the fridge until ready to grill.
How to Make the Maple Bourbon Glaze:
- In a small saucepan over high heat, combine all the ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for approximately 20 min. Sauce will thicken and become a little darker in color.
How to Grill the Wings:
- Prepare the grill for direct cooking and preheat to around 350-400 degrees F.
- Grill the wings over direct heat for around 20 minutes. Then flip the wings over and cook an additional 20 minutes.
- Brush the wings with the maple bourbon bbq sauce on one side, flip and repeat on the other.
- Continue to cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove the wings from the grill and serve immediately.
